South Fork Callahan Snowmobile Trail is heavily used; because of this, the bottom portion may develop moguls. Once past this section the trail is good and leads to many snowmobile options throughout the area.

South Fork Callahan Trail (154) follows the creek and passes through old growth stands. Open areas are available where the Smith Mountain fire burned down to the creek, and remnants of an old log chute used to send logs down the valley to Troy are noticeable.

Spar Lake offers excellent boating possibilities. It is large enough for power boats, yet also ideal for row boats and canoes. If you are planning a weekend boating trip it is advisable to arrive early as space is limited. This is a popular lake with high use by local residents.

A strenuous ascent to the top, Spar Peak Trail (324) combines open sunlit meadows with old hemlock/cedar stands. Though this trail is steep, and brushy in some spots, the view from the top is sensational. Use caution during damp weather as a portion of the trail has slick and rocky tread.

Sportsman's RV Park

Sportsman's RV Park lets you enjoy a Rocky Mountain High at only 2000 foot elevation. The RV park is located across the street from the Kootenai River which offers year round fishing, and next to Kootenai National Forest which offers good hunting and hiking.

Standard Creek Trail (116) climbs gently for the first mile, then climbs steeply. The end of the trail provides spectacular views of Upper Libby Creek, Elephant Peak, and the south Cabinet Mountains Wilderness. This is an excellent horseback opportunity and also makes a good overnight hike.

Swede Mountain Lookout-USFS

From Swede Mountain Lookout the visitor is able to see the Libby valley, Kootenai River valley, and east face of the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness. This is a very popular day trip with spectacular scenic opportunities.

Sylvan Lake Campground, at an elevation of 3,600 feet, includes 5 designated campsites in a semi-remote area consisting of tall firs and larch and is perfect for quiet weekend getaways. Local flora and fauna provide added attractions and area esthetics offer ample photo opportunities.

Teeters Peak Trail (300) offers a relatively easy 3 to 5-hour hike. It is poor for overnight camping and for horseback use due to its short length and lack of water, but does offer views of the central and southern portions of the Cabinet Wilderness and surrounding mountains.

Tepee Mountain Trail (710) consists primarily of ridgetop hiking and offers spectacular views of the countryside. During the early months numerous wildflowers are available for viewing opportunities. There is little or no water on the trail during the summer months.

A comfortable 4 bedroom bed and breakfast in Libby. The Libby area is nestled in a valley alongside the Kootenai River, surrounded by the breathtaking northern Rocky Mountains.

The Troy Ranger Station is located just 13 miles southeast of the Idaho/Montana border. It is an impressive District, with lots to see and do.

Timberlane Campground is located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana at an elevation of 2,640 feet. It is a secluded campground, yet close to Libby. This is an exceptional site for group events, reunions, or just for a weekend getaway.

Timberlane Campground Ski Trail

Visitors to Timberlane Campground Ski Trail may park at the gate and ski the loop at this campground. It is an excellent family ski course as it is all on flat terrain with a ski and sledding hill available. A picnic shelter and fire ring are also at the campground.

A marshy lake in dense timber, approximately 7 acres in size and 15 feet deep in the middle. Stocked with cutthroat trout. Swampy around the edges and waders are helpful. Ice fishing is fair in the winter months. Moose are often sighted around the lake.
