Coal Banks Landing Recreation Site is a developed public access site and campground on approximately five acres with tent and RV camping, 13 picnic tables, nine fire rings, two vault toilets, two parking areas, a concrete boat ramp, potable water, and a volunteer host contact station.

Cow Island Recreation Area located in southwest Montana on the Missouri River. This site is accessible by boat. Tent camping is permitted no restrooms or drinking water available. There are 3 fire rings located on 21 acres at an elevation of 2,500 feet. Pets allowed.

Departure Point

Departure Point Recreation Area has 10 campsites with a 14 day limit, fee required, and a trailer length limit of 50 feet.

Dickie Bridge

Dickie Bridge Campground is located in the Butte District in southwestern Montana. At an elevation of 5,700 feet the recreation area has 8 campsites with a 14 day limit and a maximum trailer size of 24 feet. There is no water, but toilets are available. Fishing is available.

Divide Bridge Campground

The Divide Bridge Recreation Area is located along the Big Hole River in southwest Montana. The recreation area is at an elevation of 5,400 feet and encompasses 80 acres with 24 camping sites. The river is popular for quality rafting and trout fishing.

East Bank

The East Banks Recreation Site is located on the Big Hole River in southwest Montana. The recreation area is at an elevation of 5,700 feet and encompasses 20 acres. Five campsites are available with a 14 day limit and a maximum trailer length of 24 feet.

Hole In The Wall State Recreation Area is located in northeast Montana. At an elevation of 2,500 feet, the recreation area encompasses 29 acres of land. It is on the Missouri River where fishing may be enjoyed. The site is accessed by boat only. Pets are welcome.

Holter Lake Recreation Area

Holter Lake Recreation Area is located in west central Montana near Helena. It is in an open, grassy area near the shore of Holter Lake surrounded sparsely by wooded hills. There is a prairie dog town just down the road and food service within close proximity.

Howry Island Campground includes a Montana watchable wildlife viewing area. The 1.3 mile Howrey Island Nature Trail will let you explore a typical riparian cottonwood forest. One of only four known active bald eagle nesting sites in southeast Montana.

The Humbug Spires Primitive Area is a non-motorized area popular for rock climbing.

Judith Landing Recreation Area

The Judith Landing Recreation Area is an access point midway in the Upper Missouri National Wild and Scenic River corridor. At an elevation of 2,400 feet, the recreation area encompasses 3 acres. Judith Landing has 12 campsites, potable water, a restroom, and a boat ramp.

Kipp Recreation Area

Kipp Recreation Area offers 19 single units and 15 multi/group camp sites, potable water, public telephone, a floaters tent camp site, boat ramp, fish cleaning table, 5 restroom sites, and an RV dump station. There is a host on site during the summer season.

Log Gulch

Log Gulch has 90 campsites including sites for trailers with a 7 day limit. Water and toilets are available. There is a boat launch for 2-wheel drive with trailer and fishing is available. Fee required.

Pryor Mountains Wild Horse Range

The Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range was the first nationally designated area established to provide a home for free roaming wild horses. Today, approximately 120 wild horses roam the rugged expanses of the Pryor Mountains along with bands of bighorn sheep, mule deer, and other wildlife.

Slaughter River is a state recreation area located in northeast Montana on the Missouri River. At an elevation of 2,500 feet, the recreation area encompasses 42 acres. The site is not accessible by vehicle, but fishing and boating may be enjoyed at Slaughter River State Recreation Area.

Sleeping Giant Wilderness Area

The Sleeping Giant Wilderness Study Area is a non-motorized recreation area located on the west side of the Missouri River and Holter Lake, 30 miles north of Helena, Montana. The rock formation is a well-known landmark, readily visible from Helena.

Toston Dam Recreation Site

Toston Dam Recreation Site is located in southwestern Montana, on the Missouri River mid-way between Helena and Three Forks. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, the recreation area encompasses 5 acres.
