The Anglers Afloat Story began twenty years ago, when Dave Finished graduate school in Missoula and began exploring the vast flyfishing frontier around him.

Backdoor Outfitters is centrally located amidst four of Western Montana's premier trout rivers; the Bitterroot River, Clark Fork River, Blackfoot River and Big Hole River. With a spring creek and five acre pond, we can set up a personalized fishing package as well as river float trips.

Bass Creek is a state fishing access site along the Bitterroot River. Bass Creek drains Bass Lake 12 miles eastward to the Bitterroot River north of Stevensville. Fishing is fair for small cutthroat, rainbow and brook trout. It is a day use only site with walk-in access only.

Bitterroot Anglers Fly Shop

Bitterroot Anglers Fly Shop has over twenty years experience in hunting large trout. We fish the Bitterroot, Clark Fork, Blackfoot, Big Hole, Beaverhead and Missouri rivers. The Bitterroot is our home stream and most of our activities are centered out of the beautiful Bitterroot Valley.

The Blodgett Overlook Trail begins 100 feet up the Canyon Creek Trail and climbs to the north. The hike is fairly easy and provides an excellent view of Blodgett Canyon and looks into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. Excellent short hike for any age.

Charles Waters Campground is located in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley is part of a watchable wildlife-viewing triangle that also includes the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge.

Country Caboose

The Country Caboose is a great private getaway in a beautiful, quiet, rural setting. This B&B is a real caboose, an authentic 1923 wooden caboose set on rails in the middle of the countryside.

Fireside Pizza and Sandwich Shoppe has the best pizza in the Bittersweet. Easy access and lots of parking space. We also have soups, salads, burgers, dinners and desserts.

Fishs Eddyo

The main objective of a trip with Fishs Eddy O is fly-fishing for trout, while enjoying a day of new experiences, fun and adventure. Trips are catered for all levels of ability, from the raw beginner to the seasoned angler.

Fort Owen Inn Restaurant Bar & Casino & Arena

The Fort Owen Inn Steakhouse, Bar, Casino, and Rodeo Arena is located just one mile from Stevensville, Montana's oldest town. We offer fine foods from the restaurant including authentic oak pit BBQ chicken strips, burgers, and steaks.

Fort Owen State Park

Built of adobe and logs, Fort Owen is the site of the first permanent white settlement in Montana. Father Pierre DeSmet came to the area in 1841 and established St. Mary's Mission among the Flathead Indians. In 1850, Major John Owen established the fort as a regional trade center.

Gold Creek Campground is located in Bitterroot National Forest. There are 4 campsites and restrooms at the campground. Please limit your stay to 14 days.

Kootenai Creek Trail (53) is maintained every year. Trail classified as moderate. High stock and foot use on this trail.

Larry Creek Campground is located in Bitterroot National Forest. Water, restrooms, garbage removal services, a volleyball sand court, and a horseshoe pit are available at this campsite.

Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge

Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge is located along the Bitterroot River in the scenic and historic Bitterroot Valley of western Montana.

Lone Tree Outfitting

Lone Tree Outfitting provides guide and outfitter services in the Bitterroot Valley and Eastern Montana's Break country. We hunt for deer, elk, antelope, bear, birds and varmints in spring and summer. Lone Tree Outfitting can accommodate and welcomes handicapped sportsmen.

Montana Creek Cottage

Our farm cottage is located on 20 very private acres surrounded by 8000 acres of wildlife preserve which borders state forests. The stunning views of both the Bitterroot and Sapphire ranges take your breath away.

The Frontier Cafe has the capacity to seat 100 guests. We offer a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and have separate dining rooms for smoking and nonsmoking guests. Banquet room will accommodate 50 people for parties.

Olde Coffee Mill and Eatery is open all year. Only closed on Sundays. We serve fresh made deli sandwiches, made to your liking, we also have all espresso and fresh brewed coffee. All coffee is roasted on our premise. We sell coffee by the bean or the cup.
