From the campground, Upper McDonald Creek Trail follows the lakeshore to the southwest, upon reaching the Camas Road near Fish Creek.

Village Inn (West Entrance)

Located on the shores of Lake McDonald in the village of Apgar is the quaint and modest Village Inn. The Village Inn was built in 1956 and has 36 rooms, all of which have views of Lake McDonald. Guests can open their eyes every morning to the stunning views of Glacier National Park.

Waterton Valley Trail is the major byway between Goat Haunt and Logan Pass. It gives access to the Fifty Mountain area, has wonderful vistas, and opportunities to view wildlife. This is a moderately difficult hike which involves a long steady climb.

The West Lakes Trail begins at the Akokaka Lake, ascending to the north.
