This small site is located on the route to the Ten Lakes Scenic Area, a very pristine and remote portion of the state. The surrounding area is heavily forested and offers exceptional flora and fauna viewing opportunities.

Hawkins Outfitters hunts from a lodge in Eureka, Montana where we do our hunting from horseback, or four wheel drive vehicles. The animals we hunt include deer, bear, elk and cougar with special licenses for moose and all meals are included.

High Country Vacation Cabins offers two Montana cabin rentals; Loon's Nest and Trout Haven.

The Hoodoos are very impressive sandstone formations jutting out from an inlet along Lake Koocanusa. Easily seen via boat, they can also be viewed from the west side of Highway 37.

House on Glen Lake

The House on Glen Lake is located on the west side of scenic Glen Lake in a wooded, and secluded area. Large windows face Glen Lake giving a spectacular view of the lake and opposite shore. Included in this view are mountains that rise up from the east shore of Glen Lake.

Inch Mountain Trail (446) is a nice hike. Access from either trailhead will get you to the top of McGuire Mountain, which offers good local scenery and campsites. Grizzly bears inhabit the area and necessary precautions should be taken.

Length: 4.8 miles. Light use, low difficulty

Knife Point Trail (542), from the dispersed campsite at the lower trailhead, parallels Knife Gulch for 0.3 mile and then switchbacks out of the Big Creek Canyon up a steep ridge between Good Creek and Knife Gulch.

This bridge is the tallest and longest in Montana. It spans the entire width of Lake Koocanusa, giving access to the Amish community on the west side and the Yaak Valley in the northwest portion of the Forest. A parking and viewing area is available. The elevation is 3,000 feet.

Little North Fork Falls is a very short trail that ends in a rain-forest type gorge. An easy to slightly moderate climb offers a view of the waterfall as it enters the gorge and drops into Little North Fork Creek.

Little Therriault Lake Campground

Little Therriault Campground is located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana. At an elevation of 5800 feet, the campground encompasses 1 acre with 6 campsites. Restrooms and drinking water are provided.

Four person capacity; cost $20.00. This lookout was built in 1924 and actively used for detecting forest fires for over 30 years. Abandoned in the 1950's, it has recently been renovated by Forest Service crews.

McGuire Mountain Trail

McGuire Mountain Trail is an easy hike with very few steep pitches. It follows McGuire Creek for the entire length and is close to the creek the last 2 miles. Trail length depends on snow plowing of access road. Limited parking.

From the streambottom trailhead in Parsnip Creek, Parsnip Creek Trail (65) follows a gentle grade for 1.5 miles and then climbs on a steep, switchbacking trail out of the valley bottom where the grade lessens to the junction with Road 4874.

Pinto Point Trail (52) offers a nice day hike to the lower campsite along Big Creek road or the upper trailhead. The lower trail exits from a dispersed campsite and then climbs out of the canyon via a series of switchbacks to Maxine Point.
