Hundreds of peaks separate more than thirty rugged drainages for nearly 90 miles along a dramatic mountain front stretching from the South Fork of Lolo Creek south to where rocky ridges break abruptly into the West Fork of the Bitterroot River.

Slate Creek Campground is located along the east side of Painted Rocks Reservoir in the Bitterroot National Forest near Darby, Montana. At an elevation of 4,500 feet, this campground encompasses 6 acres. Tent and trailer sites are located in a wooded creek bottom.

Thunder Bow Outfitters

Thunder Bow Outfitters is based in the Swan River Valley in Western Montana. We are permitted in several areas in Western Montana: The Bob Marshall Wilderness, Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness (1.3 million acres) Swan River State Forest, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest (Pioneer Mountains).

Tin Cup Creek Trail (96) is in excellent condition. The early part of this trail is notable primarily for the pleasant forest, varied plant life and easy walking. Mountains and rock cliffs are not much in evidence because the valley is broad and heavily timbered.

Trapper Peak looms over the parking lot for Trapper Creek Trail (598). That sets the tone for the whole day's hike, as North Trapper on one side of the drainage, and a line of cliffs and needle-like peaks on the other, dominate this trail.

Trapper Peak Trail

Trapper Peak Trail (133) is maintained every two years. Difficult, steep trail that gets moderate to high use. The climb to Trapper Peak, the highest peak in the Bitterroot Ranger at 10,157 feet, is a steep, strenuous hike.

Log Cabin Motel & RV

Travellers Rest Cabins and RV Park is located in Darby on 2.35 landscaped acres, with views to the Bitterroot Mountain Range. Individual, newly remodeled log cabins with double and twin beds or queen sized bed. We also have spacious, beautifully decorated suites with king or two queen beds.

Triple Creek Ranch

Designed for adults, Triple Creek Ranch is a year-round destination resort surrounded on three sides by the Bitterroot National Forest.

Triple Creek Restaurant

Triple Creek Restaurant is located on the second level of the three story Triple Creek Ranch lodge, which is nestled among the pines of the Bitterroot Mountains. The elegant candlelit dining room is surrounded by windows and features a large stone fireplace.

West Fork Billabong offers fine dining, lounge and casino. We also have 10 RV sites, water, electricity, sewer, shower, toilets and laundry. A 2500 foot airstrip is nearby as well as access to fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing and snowmobiling.

West Fork Bitterroot Vacation Retreat

We rent a furnished vacation home with an unattached apartment over an adjacent garage.

This District office administers to the southwestern portion of the Bitterroot National Forest. Selway River float permits are also .administered through this office - permit deadline is January 31. Office hours are from 8:30am - 4:30pm.

White Bird Ranch Llamas

Secluded cabin on White Bird Ranch. Located in southwestern Montana, on the Nez Perce Road, bordering a cascading creek and the Bitterroot National Forest. A great getaway for serious fly fishing, fantastic hiking, and photography.

There is a $50 a night usage fee. The cabin will accommodate up to 15 people. Water, a wood heating stove, and a propane cooking stove provided. The cabin has three bedrooms, a large meeting room, and a deck.
