May Creek Ski Trail begins at May Creek Campground and joins Cabinet Creek Trail at the end. Can use Cabinet Creek and May Creek Ridge Trails to form loop. Accesses May Creek rental cabin December 1 to March 31. Access to rental cabin is 2.5 miles of the easiest trail.

Miner Lake Campground is located within Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in southwest Montana. At an elevation of 7000 feet, this campground encompasses 10 acres. This is a basic campground with 18 tent sites, restrooms and drinking water. Fishing and boating may be enjoyed on the lake.

Length: 3.6 miles marked ungroomed trail.

Nez Perce Motel

The Nez Perce is a very clean, eight unit motel situated at the crossroads of the scenic Big Hole Valley of Wisdom. It provides rooms for tourists, fisherman, sportsmen, and other outdoor extremists. Big Hole River flows through the Big Hole Valley which is a Blue Ribbon trout stream.

National historic trail established in 1986. Not regularly maintained. Maintained every 3 years. Trail classified as moderate to difficult. The trail follows the route of the Nez Perce War.

Parking available at plowed lot on Highway 43. Can use Cabinet Creek Trail or Anderson Mountain Road to make semi-loops.

Rock Island Lake Trail is restricted to motorized use.

Ruby-May Creek Trail (102) serves as access for hunting, limited fishing, hiking and stock use. Portions of the trail are in primitive condition. The trail is approximately 10 miles long and runs from May Creek Campground to junction with Forest Service Road 624, Gibbonsville Road.

Sand Lake - Lilly Lake Trail (380) serves as access for hunting, fishing, scenic viewing, and recreation stock use. Sand Lake is 8 miles from the trailhead and Lily Lake is about 2.5 miles away. Sand Lake Trail ends at the junction with Pioneer Loop Trail 750.

Scooter Creek Ski Trail connects Chief Joseph Pass groomed trail system with Shoofly Trail and Hogan Rental Cabin. This trail is not groomed.

The Siege Trail leads 1.8 mile round trip, to the area where the soldiers and volunteers were held under siege by Nez Perce warriors.

All are welcome to take a Self-Guided walk through the battlefield from sunrise to sunset, daily. Guided walks are offered during the summer months.

Parking at plowed lot on Highway 43. Shoofly Ski Trail starts on north side of highway; accesses Hogan Rental Cabin. More difficult trail, no grooming. The Shoofly cut-off trail is 1.5 miles long and provides an easier route around the steepest portions of the Shoofly.

Shultz - Johnson Snowmobile Trail begins at the Placer Creek Road. Intermittantly groomed trail to Shultz Saddle. The trail continues over the pass onto the Sula District, but is not marked or groomed beyond the pass.

Skinner Meadows/Bloody Dick Trail Snowmobile leads over the Big Hole Divide to Reservoir Lake. Marked, not groomed. Maps available at District Office or Big Hole Battlefield. Outhouses available at Reservoir Lake and South Van Houten Lake.

Slagamelt Trail is open to ATVs after July 15.

Steel Creek Campground has 9 campsites available. Elevation of 6200 feet. Maximum trailer length is 35 feet. Picnic area as well as restroom facilities are accessible. Drinking water is also available.

Stewart Meadows Complex Snowmobile Trail is an ungroomed trail. It connects with Wise River/Polaris snowmobile trail. Map available at District Office or Big Hole Battlefield.

Length: 30 miles of marked trail

Four person capacity; cost $20.00. Access on snowmobile trail. Twelve miles from end of plowed county road to cabin. Available to rent only in the winter.
