Lolo Peak Trail (1311) is a popular hiking trail to Lolo Peak just outside of Missoula. It takes hikers to the top of Carlton Ridge which makes up part of the cirque which contains Carlton Lake. As you hike you will see the North Summit.
Lonesome Ridge Trail (154) is an attractive access route to Lonesome Ridge and Route Creek Trail 108. The trail is predominantly forested climbing at steep grades and dropping to an open saddle at the top. Good views are offered looking both north and south.
Longfellow Park Trail (135) is actually an old road that is closed to motorized vehicles. It is a good trail to access Longfellow Park and beyond into Tizer Basin or Upper Beaver Creek. The trail is used mainly for hunting but it also accesses hiking and camping areas.
Lookout Pass Ski Trails are next to and part of the snowmobile trail system. There are 9 ungroomed trails that make a total of 7.3 miles down into the basin. The Lookout Pass Alpine Skiing Area is right next to the cross-country ski trails and snowmobiling opportunities.
The Lost Cabin Lake Trail (150) begins at the west end of Bismark Reservoir and terminates at Lost Cabin Lake. The trail is five miles in length, is well maintained and is on an easy grade.
Lost Girl/St. Paul Peak Ski Course offers an excellent view of the Cabinet and Bitterroot Mountains, but it would take an avid skier to complete the full 14 miles.
The first 2 miles north of Lost Horse Trail 245 is steep and rocky. Trail levels out through Lost Horse Meadow to Bible Camp Park then climbs steady to Trail 750. Half of trail is in timber other half in open meadows. Some sections are boggy. Open to motorcycles and ATVs.
Lost Stove Trail (346) is the quickest and shortest route into the upper part of the Tenderfoot Creek. The recommended season of use is early summer to late autumn. Sedans and short motorhomes can travel the roads in dry weather.
Loveland Peak Trail (1070) is an easy-walking ridgetop trail that offers a scenic view of the Cabinet Mountains and Clark Fork valley, and an excellent view of the town of Noxon.
Lower Deer Creek Trail (5) begins at the junction with Lodgepole Trail 124. it continue north along the Lower Deer Creek past the Lower Deer Creek Rental Cabin and provides access to West Bridger Trail 129, Placer Gulch Trail 256, and Tomato Can Trail 156.
The MacDonald Pass Ski Trails are four connected cross-country ski trail loops near the Continental Divide providing opportunities for beginner and intermediate skiing. Three of the four loop trails are groomed by the Last Chance Nordic Ski Club.
For an easygoing outing beyond the city limits, try the Maclay Flat Interpretive Trail! The path is wide, level and surfaced to accommodate wheelchairs. It takes you along the Bitterroot River and through adjacent meadows, with some great views of mountains around Missoula.
Madison Arm Loop Snowmobile Trail is a cooperative operation with West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce. Parking capacity unlimited in West Yellowstone. Groomers operated 7 nights a week. Schedules available in Forest service office.
Magpie System Snowmobile Trail is a loop trail with many play areas. Portions of this snowmobile route pass through private property. Please stay on groomed trail while crossing private land. Cooperative operation with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Parking capacity for 10 cars.
Martin Lake Trail (418) provides easy access to a low elevation, isolated lake. Loons may be seen as well as moose, ducks, and other wildlife. This is an excellent hike for the first-time camper/hiker.

The Marysville/Austin System Snowmobile Trail is a groomed snowmobile route which begins and ends at Marysville. Cooperative operation with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Parking capacity for 20 cars.
Willard Creek Trail is a short trail segment which provides access into the Elkhorn Mountains and the area burned in the 1988 Warm Springs Fire. In the winter there is 4.5 km of easiest trail; intermittent grooming. Parking capacity for 6 vehicles.
