Horse Butte Loop Snowmobile Trail is a cooperative operation with West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce. Parking capacity unlimited in West Yellowstone. Groomers operated 7 nights a week. Schedules available in Forest service office.

The first half of Horse Mountain Snowmobile Trail is a gradual climb above Libby Creek. On the Horse Mountain road, take the first left after 0.5 mile and continue up through the clearcut. Continue 0.8 mile and turn right to the lookout.

Horse Mountain-Libby Divide Trail (716) offers a ridgetop hiking experience with many scenic vistas along the way. The trail is gentle except for the first and last 0.5 mile stretches. For more information on this trail, see Miller Creek/Libby Divide and Swamp Creek/Libby Divide.

Horsehead Trail (51) is a short trail from the end of a Forest Road that gives access to the Ninemile Divide Trail as well as the view of the valley from Horsehead Peak.

Hoskins Lake Trail

Along Hoskins Lake Trail (162) hikers and fisherpersons gain easy access to lake fishing. There are no steep hills or hazards making this an ideal hike for small children or less experienced hikers.

Howard Lake Snowmobile Trail is an easy 15-mile one way trip. The main attraction is ice fishing for rainbow trout at Howard Lake.

Hub-Hazel Lakes Trail (280) is a short connecting trail between Ward Creek and Eagle Peak. Several sections of steep trail make this a moderate to difficult climb. Diverse habitats, spring wildflowers and views of alpine lakes make this trail enjoyable.

Hunters Gulch Trail

The Hunters Gulch Trail is open to motorbikes and ATVs which are 42 inches or less in width.

Huntsberger Lake Trail has fantastic views of the lake and surrounding area. Huntsberger lake has great fishing.

Length: 6.1 miles. Moderate to high difficulty

Trail Begins: Whale Creek Road 318 and 1674.Trail Ends: Whitefish Divide Trail 26

Sections of Hyalite Loop Ski Trail are shared with snowmobiles. This trail is not groomed.

Length: 24 km most difficult trail.

A long horseback or backpacking trip.

Ibex/Cottonwood Creek Snowmobile Trail crosses private property, please stay on trail. Cooperative operation with Big Sky Snowriders and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Trailhead is in Section 19, T7S, R6E on private property. Parking capacity for 20 cars.

The Ice Caves Trail (455) climbs almost 5 miles to the permanent ice caves on the Snowy Crest. The first part of this trail climbs 3 miles to the top of the Snowy Crest and gains 2,200 feet in elevation. This portion of the hike is moderately difficult.

Inch Mountain Trail (446) is a nice hike. Access from either trailhead will get you to the top of McGuire Mountain, which offers good local scenery and campsites. Grizzly bears inhabit the area and necessary precautions should be taken.

Length: 4.8 miles. Light use, low difficulty

Independence Trail (121) travels from the Independence Mine area through high alpine meadows to the head of the East Fork Boulder and the junction with East Fork Boulder Trail 27.

Length: 3.5 miles. Wilderness, moderate difficulty, medium use

Indian Creek Trail (121) is a Scenic hike through a glacial basin to Idaho-Montana state line. It is closed to motorized vehicles.

Indian Ridge Trail (104) is closed to motorized vehicles.

Ivanhoe Lake Trail (27) begins at Road 5120, which is a 4-wheel drive access only, and leads to Ivanhoe Lake.
