Round Lake Snowmobile Trail

Round Lake Snowmobile Trail is a cooperative operation with Upper Yellowstone Snowmobile Club and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Longer trips may be made by combining routes. Park in Cooke City. Shared with skiers.

Round Meadows Ski Trail is intermittently groomed December 20 to March 15. Trailhead parking for 50 vehicles plus accessible restroom. Trail maps available at entrance sign. Snowmobiles prohibited. Dogs are allowed but need to be under control of owners.

Ruby-May Creek Trail (102) serves as access for hunting, limited fishing, hiking and stock use. Portions of the trail are in primitive condition. The trail is approximately 10 miles long and runs from May Creek Campground to junction with Forest Service Road 624, Gibbonsville Road.

Saddle Mountain - Lost Trail Pass Ski Trail is not groomed. The trail begins at the Lost Trail Ski Area, and follows the road up to Saddle Mountain.

Saddle Mountain Burn - Lost Trail Pass Ski Trail is a mountain touring trail that begins in Lost Trail Pass Ski Area parking lot and ends on Highway 93 at the East Camp Creek Road. This trail is not groomed.

The Sam Braxton Trail is named after a well-known Missoula skier, bicyclist and outdoorsman. This trail loops around the southeast portion of Pattee Canyon Recreation Area.

Sand Lake - Lilly Lake Trail (380) serves as access for hunting, fishing, scenic viewing, and recreation stock use. Sand Lake is 8 miles from the trailhead and Lily Lake is about 2.5 miles away. Sand Lake Trail ends at the junction with Pioneer Loop Trail 750.

Sandstone Ridge Trail (228) goes up to the top of the east side of Rock Creek. Then if follows the ridge all the way back north to Brewster Creek Road. There area several non-motorized trails leading down to Ranch Creek from the top.

Sauerkraut Trail is one of the original accesses to the Lincoln View Mine, which is located near the end of the trail. As with many trails built on Forest Service Land it was constructed for purposes other than recreation.

Savenac Creek Trail (263) is a nice trail along a creek bottom for several miles. Then it climbs through excellent elk and other wildlife habitat to the CC Divide Trail.

Sawyer Creek - Rice Ridge Snowmobile Trail begins at milepost 20, Highway 83 and continues on Road 685 to Rice Ridge Road 720 at Junction D (Route 3). Access to Rice Ridge and Holland Lake in spring when snow has melted on lower trails. Not groomed on a regular basis.

The first section of Scenery Mountain Lookout Trail (649) is the easiest and follows Cedar Creek for approximately .8 mile; the climb becomes more difficult after reaching the junction.

Schley Mountain Trail (110) is a nice day hike to Kid Lake, which is just 2 miles down the trail. There are also options for longer hikes from this trail This trail is Closed to motorized vehicles.

Scooter Creek Ski Trail connects Chief Joseph Pass groomed trail system with Shoofly Trail and Hogan Rental Cabin. This trail is not groomed.

Seeley Creek Nordic Ski Trails are a series of linked ski trails. You can select a short, medium or long route. These trails are groomed for skating. No dogs are allowed on groomed trails. Snowmobiles prohibited. Parking available for 12 vehicles. Maps available at the District Office.

Seeley Lake - Monture Snowmobile is a great family trail.

At one time Selway Mountan had a fire lookout. So the top of the mountain has very good view of the surrounding area.

The trailhead is paved and has a stock ramp, hitching post, feed bunk and a toilet. This is the start of the Continental Divide Trail in the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness. The trail is signed and well marked.

Shafer Creek Trail (226) offers a good opportunity for the day hiker or stock user. The bottom 4 miles offer snags which house bird species such as the American red-crested woodpecker and several types of owls.
