Nowhere in the world is there a more varied or larger collection of hydrothermal features than there is in Yellowstone.

Gibbon Falls is just one of the many waterfalls within the Park. Gibbon Falls has an 84 foot drop.

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

Canyon Country; the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, is 24 miles of twisting, sheer rock cliffs carved 1200 feet deep. At the canyon's beginning, two thundering waterfalls inspire awe.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is 370 feet in diameter and the largest of the hot springs in Yellowstone. The center is an intense azure blue. The hot water produces algae to grow with colors ranging from orange and green to golden brown.

Grant Village visitor center features a special exhibit on display depicting the story of the 1988 Yellowstone fires. The Yellowstone and Fire exhibit and film tells how fires have been a part of Yellowstone's history for thousands of years.

The Hellroaring Trail travels from the Mammoth-Tower Road to the park's north boundary, and continues into the Gallatin National Forest. The trail follows Hellroaring Creek through sageland and stands of Douglas fir and past rock outcrops over 2 billion years old.

Indian Creek Campground is located south of Yellowstone's North entrance near Gardiner, Montana at an elevation of 7300 feet. Restrooms and drinking water are provided, and there are 75 campsites to choose from. Fishing access is located within one mile of the campsite.

Inspiration Point offers a spectacular view which emphasizes the magnitude of the canyon. The canyon is 24 miles long and 800 to 1,200 feet deep, with tow waterfalls that total a 417 foot drop. The view is breathtaking.

The parking area for the Kepler Cascades is located 1 1/2 miles south of the Old Faithful Geyser area. There is a wooden platform that takes you to a splendid view of a series of falls and cascades tumbling over a hundred feet between the canyon walls.

Yellowstone Lake was born of the fire and ice of volcanoes and glaciers-then gentled by centuries of time. Serene Yellowstone Lake is the heart of Lake Country. This is the home of the only breeding colony of white pelicans in the national park.

The Slough Creek Trail travels from Slough Creek Campground to the park's north boundary, following Slough Creek through broad, grassy valley most of the way.

Lewis Lake Campground is located in Yellowstone National Park at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Restrooms and drinking water are provided, and there are 85 designated campsites to choose from. Boating is permitted on Lewis Lake and a launch site is available. Fishing on the lake is also popular.

The Lone Star Geyser erupts from a 12 foot cone to heights of 35 feet. There are several short eruptions for several minutes prior to the initial main eruption. These subside and the main eruption occurs 15 to 20 minutes later with a three-hour interval between eruptions.

Mammoth Campground

Mammoth Campground is located near the facinating and beautiful Mammoth Hot Springs terraces near Yellowstone's North Entrance at an elevation of 6,200 feet. This camping area is open year round. Restrooms and water are provided, and there are 85 designated campsites.

Mammoth Country

Mammoth Country is the home of the only winter location in Yellowstone that is accessible by automobile. In early days, trains carried visitors to Yellowstone where, at Gardiner, fashionable tourists boarded stagecoaches for holidays at great park hotels.

The Midway Geyser Basin is one of the major features enroute to Old Faithful and can be reached from the parking area by walking across the bridge spanning the Firehole River.

Queen of Montana Rivers, the Yellowstone, 678 miles of the last free flowing waters in the Continental U.S. rushes through the National Park and slows down through spectacular Paradise Valley, starting point for our float.

Morning Glory Pool is known as the most beautiful pool in all of Yellowstone, with a resemblance of the morning glory flower.

Norris Campground is located within the Norris Geyser Basin thermal area in the central portion of Yellowstone National Park at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Restrooms and water are provided, and there are 116 designated campsites to choose from.
