The 6-mile long Palisade Mountain Trail skirts the northern edge of the 20,000 acre Skalkho Game Preserve and ends at Burnt Fork Lake in the Sapphire Mountains. Travel along the ridge trail offers views of the scenic Bitterroot Mountains and opportunities to see big game. The trailhead has a developed campsite, horsefeed-bunks, and hitch rails. Maintained every two years. Trail classified as moderate.
