Western Bar

The building you are in has a colorful past. It was built in 1905 and has been used as a clothing and dry goods store, rooming house, brewery, cafe, brothel, gambling house and saloon. This is the only remaining bar on Minnesota Avenue. Over the years twenty-three different bars have operated within a two block area around the Western, including the Yukon, Arcade, Standard, Tampico, New Pioneer, Mexican Star, Silver Dollar, Buffalo Bar, Montana, Stone Front, and Casey's Golden Pheasant. All but the Western have closed or moved.
