Amber Bear Hollow is a quaint Country Inn nestled in the hollow of Beaver Peak, on a wildlife sanctuary. It is bordered on the south by the Kootenai National Forest. The area is Montana's only rain forest and contains an impressive variety of trees, plants, wild berries and wildflowers. Birds and wildlife abound.
The Inn is named for the area's cinnamon-colored bears that are frequently blonde in color when they first emerge from hibernation. A petting zoo of horses, llamas, goats, chickens and other animals is a subtle reminder that the grounds were a ranching homestead for close to 100 years. Water from Brewer's Creek gurgles down the mountainside and was one of the ingredients used in a large bootlegging operation in earlier decades.
The Inn is newly constructed, air-conditioned and built with seven fireplaces. Each bedroom has a magnificent view and a private bathroom. A large, wrap-around porch, a casual atmosphere, and hearty country cooking transport you back to a time before calories and cholesterol. Those searching for the amenities of today, and the charm of the farming past, may find it at Amber Bear Hollow.
